SOMEWHERE IN TIME GALLERY
by Artist Jaymie Mathena
So many people have asked about the dolls of “Somewhere in Time”, the ones mentioned in the biographical sketch, that this gallery was created to share with you some of the “other” creations that were done before the Oklahoma Women in History became a full-fledged project.
Most of the dolls have been operatic or historical characters, but there is also a Bridal Gallery and those “born” of special requests.
Please enjoy visiting with these ladies…yes, some of them are still available. Those listed as “Special Order” can be recreated; an e-mail question will give you a time frame as to when you could expect your own creation.
Each lady is totally handmade, from the porcelain to the body to the costume. None of these ladies have ever been “hurried” into being. Usually there are many firings in the creative process…the more firings, the more beautiful and translucent the porcelain becomes. The details take time as well…and much love goes into the process of creating something special. As many details as possible will go into the descriptions.
Feel free to browse through these pages….and get acquainted with some remarkable ladies, both real and imaginary…each and every one of them a fascinating woman!

The Bridal Gallery
Bridal replicas are a fascinating group. When you recreate a young lady’s wedding dress, it becomes a memory of one of the most joyous and wonderful days of her life!
These pictures are a sampling of the different types of gowns along the way…from the stately cathedral trained gowns heavily embellished and lavish to the elegant simplicity of the more modern ones.
It is a time consuming process but very, very rewarding…when you see the look on the bride’s face when she sees “her wedding day” re-created for her forever!

SPECIAL DESIGNS GALLERY
Yes, it is possible to replicate a lot of different ideas. Below is a prototype made for a soccer team in the state, complete down to the names of the jerseys, the names on the necklaces, and matching hair ribbons! It was a delightful presentation, down to the soccer ball in “mid-kick”! Almost anything is possible….at least….so far!!
